Creepy Sexy Folk

Why yes, I do have a playlist in my iPod titled "Sexy Halloween". If you liked my "Creepy Sexy Jazz...Rock," choices, then listen to these spooky, atmospheric, yet highly sensual folksy tunes.

Everything by The Pierces makes me think witches, Salem, and combat boots over fishnets. Those girls can have such beautifully dark yet deceptively sweet voices. I literally picture them boiling their unfaithful ex boyfriends over a cauldron while scattering in pink sprinkles when I listen to them. My favorite line of this song is, "hold me till all the prayers that go to heaven get an answer".

I don't know if this next song really counts as Folk. Wikipedia calls it ambient so let's just go with that. I suppose I could have just posted it under "Creepy Sexy Indie" but that would just be redundant.

Regardless of which genre you title this under, if your Halloween plans involve trickin' for treats, this is clearly one song you can't leave off your playlist. The song is called "Dark Moves of Love" which is quite apt. It's atmospheric, hypnotic, erotic and semi spiritual.

And there's "What's a Girl to Do" by Bat For Lashes which is just the perfect Halloween song. What's scarier than love growing cold while creepy stuffed animals stalk you in the woods? I'm not entirely sure what's happening in this video but it creeps me out. This music video definitely has a Donnie Darko vibe to it. Although it's not sexy per se, it's definitely too spooky to leave off this list.

Enjoy.
